Smart Assistant Insert Deletes Existing Gmail Draft Content
Here's a bug report you can send to Mailbutler support. It's in English, since that's the language their support works in:
Subject: Smart Assistant "Insert" deletes existing draft content in Gmail
Hi,
I would like to report a bug in the Mailbutler Smart Assistant in Gmail (Chrome).
What happens
When I click Insert on a text generated by the Smart Assistant, Mailbutler replaces the entire content of the reply. Everything that was already in the draft is deleted:
text I had already written myself
my Gmail signature
the quoted original email (the conversation history)
Only the AI text remains.
Steps to reproduce
Open an email in Gmail and click Reply.
Write a line of your own text in the reply. The signature and the quoted original are below it.
Open the Mailbutler sidebar and use the Smart Assistant to generate a reply.
Click Insert.
The draft now contains only the AI text. My own text, the signature and the quoted history are gone.
Expected behaviour
The AI text should be inserted at the cursor position, or above the signature. Existing text, the signature and the quoted history should be kept.
Environment
Gmail in Google Chrome on macOS
Reply in a popped-out compose window and in an inline reply
Signature set in Gmail settings, inserted automatically in replies
This makes the Smart Assistant risky to use, since it silently removes the signature and the history from replies. Is there a setting to change this behaviour, or is a fix planned?
