Please consider breaking up your tagging feature into "Project" tagging and "Keyword" tagging. "Project" tags should show in customizable colors.
This was a very useful feature of the no-longer usable (with the latest Mac OS) MailTags.

I agree - I so wish that I could have MailTags back
I'm not a big tag user, but this would simplify the little tagging I do.
