Tag-based automatic email filing into folders

Tag based rule organization folder system All I need is a way to add extra tags to emails for organizing them in smart mailboxes. I want to tag each project with its name to track involved companies easily. Thunderbird has good tagging, but its UI and smart mailbox system aren’t as smooth as Mail. Mailbutler’s tags didn’t work as I hoped—I need emails in a folder, not just in the sidebar. Clicking to find tagged emails in the inbox felt confusing. For now, I’ve reorganized Mail’s built-in tags and will work within its seven-tag limit. I’ll keep an eye on Mailbutler for future updates.

I'm also interested in a solution for this. Currently I'm not using tags (since Sonoma) as it's just to cumbersome and not practical to use the filtering in Mailbutler dashboard when I quickly want to scan emails with a specific tag. I've gone back to creating folders in the Mail app for now which is kind of sad but still more practical. I understand that this is difficult to solve now that Apple has blocked integration. But I'm really hoping for a miracle.

Hi Friedhelm! Thank you for your request, we will discuss internally possible options to add this functionality. Currently you can see all tagged emails (or notes/tasks/signatures/templates/contacts) by applying corresponding filter in the dashboard.

Totally agree, best £10 I ever spent. and it is being discontinued with the arrival of Sonoma. adding this functionality to Mailbutler would add many more subscribers

Mailbutler: Thanks for getting back to me. The really powerful thing about tags in Mac OS is that they can be used across multiple apps; it would be really good if your tagging implementation was compatible with Apple's native tagging system.

Yes to this request to offer suggestions of mailboxes to file to. I used to use Mailhub, but the developer abandoned the application. This is the kind of AI capability that I would treasure to help me clean my Inbox. As of know I am typing in the beginning of a name of a mailbox in Help, but Mailbutler should be able to have a better way.

Mail Hub was fantastic and only needed to be updated for the latest OSes. I am sure Dervish would sell the code and rights for a sensible figure and it would add hugely to MailButler. Or. the functionality could be replicated.

We need to keep a paper trail of all emails sent and received for compliance. Need this asap. MailButler already integrates so well… just need a prompt to save the email in a folder once sent & before actioning received emails.
