Checking email activity on the macOS menu bar when Apple Mail client is closed.

Re: The "M" Icon at the top of the macOS desktop menu bar allowing the ability to check email activity when the Apple Mail client is closed: This was a massively useful feature and removing it is a step back in terms of user-friendliness, convenience/accessibility being that now we can only check the activity of emails if the Apple Mail client is open. Please strongly consider reinstating this feature back to the macOS menu bar.

I've tried reasoning with the support that this is a huge step backward in terms of UX, but so far it's fallen on death ears.

I just received this response from Mailbutler support: "When you opened the activity feed in the menu bar in the past, that was also being reset by having it closed when you weren't looking at it, and then reopened when you went to check it. So the effect was exactly the same--it updated by being refreshed when it was reopened. Truly, nothing has been removed. We've just moved the same capability from the menu bar (something that many many users asked for) and in to the email client. The CTO and the development team are already aware that some users, such as yourself, don't like this change. Unfortunately, you are in the minority." Clearly they're either not using the tool or are not understanding how this recent update has negatively impacted the user experience.

Yes, Please leave it like it was before or at least give us an option to have it. Maybe create a preference to check to see the Mailbulter icon in the Menu Bar. It is very convenient to click on it while working on any app you are. Vote me in on this

I guess Mailbutler has closed this feature request, implying that they're not even considering bringing this feature back.

Yeah, this needs to come back asap. Bad decision to remove this. Steps before they took this out: 1) Click on M icon in menubar, see email activity. Steps now: 1) Click on Apple Mail App to bring to front 2) Click on MailButler icon in top right hand corner of app 3) Click on menu squares icon 4) Wait for panel to slide up. Oh wait, that panel is up and doesn't refresh by itself. Wanna refresh? Gotta close it, and re-open it. Sorry folks, bad UX :(

David Thompson: 100% agree and also the amount of time spent going back and fourth with Mailbutler support (and still need to action) in order to report the issue of the activity feed not automatically updating. The workaround is to “right click” and you can “reload” the feed manually. This has to be one of the worst UX changes I’ve seen a software company release as an upgrade. Total disregard for the actual user experience, and the time involved for us to respond to their request for more information to resolve what appears to be a global user issue.

Same with you Matthew and really hope they can make this an option for people who don't want to have apple mail open all the time.
